Opera has provided the height of drama for audiences throughout the world. Cultures from all over the world have developed their own versions of what Western audiences think of as opera. In the Western Classical tradition, opera got it’s start in 16th Century Italy with Greek mythological tragedy as it’s subject. Tragedy has continued to be the primary subject of opera, most with grand stories of love and betrayal set against major historical or mythological events. This concert will present a collection of arias from great masters like Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, and others. These will be mixed with songs that span the emotional gamut and offer a complement and counterpoint to their operatic cousins. Take this journey with Three Bridges’ artists from the shining heights to the darkest depths and back again.
